The Kingston Filipino British Community CIC is having a family disco fundraising event on 8th March 2014 entitled DISCOMANIA at Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School, Chestnut Grove, New Malden KT3 3JU.

This is the first KFBC fundraising event for the organisation the proceeds of which will go towards the establishment of Kingston Filipino Language School and for the community’s welfare fund. Hopefully, the planned school will commence on 2015 academic year. This scheme can only be realised with sufficient funding and the support of the whole Filipino community. The school is backed by the Philippine Embassy as a pilot scheme. It is for this purpose that we are having this event, one of many that KFBC is planning before the commissioning.

Make this date free in your diary and SUPPORT your community by attending this event or by encouraging your family and friends to attend. Tickets are on sale at the door for only £5.00. Children below 12 years old are free.

Doors open from 6.30 pm until 10.30 pm. Food and drinks will be available for sale at the venue at a reasonable price.

The Birth of Kingston Community

Finally the Kingston Filipino British Community was born on 22 May 2013 at 9.30 pm . As you can see from the name it was overwhelmingly agreed by majority that this should be the appropriate name of the organisation. The birth of the community was momentous to say the least. As facilitators we are glad that we have that on the way. The next task is to draft the constitution. The Committe will have their first meeting on 1st June after the welcome event for Fr Voltaire. For those who indicated that they wanted to be part of the committee please take note of the date. The venue will be at Oliver Abasolo’s residence at 42 Blenheim Gardens, Kingston upon Thames.

For those who were unable to attend, minutes of the meeting will be posted in due course by Oliver Abasolo who was appointed to take the minutes.

Although our task as facilitator is not yet over, Manny and I would like this opportunity to thank the following for making it to the inaugural meeting of the Kingston Filipino British Community. Jenny Enage, Jill Dios, Jay Aliac, Conrad Sagun, Cristina Sagun, Araial Ilustre, Tarcila Murray, Jerry Rivera, Oliver Abasolo, Grace Peroy, Teresa Long, Louis Desbruslais, Lucy Desbruslais, Expe Villanueva, Rosalyn Villanueva, Annie Patriarca, Alice Green, and Heidi Go.
